
Opinion: Brain surgery on live TV - first do no harm
When brain surgery becomes live reality TV in search of headlines and ratings, the traditional medical notion of "First, do no harm" becomes "Second, do no harm."
"Brain Surgery Live," a two-hour special on the National Geographic Channel, telecast Oct. 25 from University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, was described by host Bryant Gumbel not as a "gorefest," but as "a celebration of the brain."
